Spring Magnolia Tree

Here is my Magnolia tree. It is so sad looking as I lost most of its leaves but was loaded with flowers. Think it was because I did not water enough. It would always predict rain and I would not turn on sprinklers and then it would not rain. I don't wait anymore.  Naomi

Georgia Early Flowering Tree

Our Yoshino Cherry always blooms very early and sometimes gets clobbered by spring frosts and storms but right now it looks the best it has since we have been here!

Camelias blooming in Texas! Can't believe it but Mom says that they ususally bloom in February but because of the freezing/snow weather they have had this year, they are just now blooming in March!

They are beautiful and while I know that she covered them during their freezing weather, I don't know what other magic she used. Maybe she will share that with us! Hint hint!

2009 Season - The Good, The Bad and The Beautiful

This first post will be an introduction to this blog and our love of gardening. Mom is the greatest gardener that I know! She has so much knowledge about plants and loves to work with them. She has visited great gardens locally and around the world! Texas gives her such a nice long growing season! Plumeria cutting is doing great - flowers take time!

Now I don't want to give the impression that she doesn't ever have trouble with some that she tries to grow but I know that she gets great enjoyment from the process and from successes! I am just now beginning to try my hand at ornamental gardening. I have had a very successful vegetable garden in the past and now want to see if I can learn how to decorate my yard with color during the summer and year-round plants. Georgia can be great for flower now that we are no longer in a draught.

We will post pictures and stories for the enjoyment of family and friends. You are a friend if you too love to work with plants so feel free to join in!
